An active growing church and family
History & Geography
Find us in San Pedro and Sotogrande
The Anglican Church of the Costa Del Sol West is a chaplaincy of the Diocese in Europe of the Church of England – part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. We were first established on the Costa del Sol in 1975 and have since grown into the active church we are today.
Situated in both San Pedro and Sotogrande, we serve a costal strip from Marbella to Algeciras, which includes the major towns of Puerto Banus, Estepona, Sabinillas, Manilva and Duquesa.
The Chaplaincy Council consists of 9 lay members, two church wardens, two representatives to the Archdeaconry Synod, and the Chaplain, plus any co-opted members. This is the group which plans for the future and seeks to lead the chaplaincy in the direction that God has in mind for us. If you are thinking that you could contribute to this, then the chances are that God is calling you to do so. It would be worth talking with one of the members to understand what goes on.
The church wardens are elected (and they may be re-elected every year at the Church AGM which happens on the last Sunday in April). The representatives to the Synod are elected (and may be re-elected) every three years. One-third of the nine lay members are elected (and may be re-elected) every year. The term of service prior to a break of a year is six years (with the exception of serving officers).
There are other teams: Social and Fundraising Team, Ministry Team, Publicity Team, Orpea, Messy Church/Sunday School and Pastoral Team.
The wardens also have a team of assistant wardens supporting them.
